Lido Bettarini was born in Sesto Fiorentino. Graduated at the Academy of Arts of Florence, he has always been working as a painter, whose works are on display in the most famous galleries and museums, both in Italy and abroad. Member of the Italian Academy for Sciences and Arts, he has contributed to the foundation of the “Simone Martini” Academy and, spiritually inspired, he produced very beautiful sacred paintingss in the 70's – see the Crucified Christ in the Santi Fiorentini Church or St. John portraied as a craftsman. He has also made exhibitions in Canada, France, Germany, Spain and Switzerland, won special prizes in Italy and put his works of art on display in the most important italian cities. Furthermore he has made about 80 personal exhibitions in the 40 years he has been working as a painter. In 1986 he was asked to make the official portrait of pope John Paul II. He has also written and published two auto-biographic novels and produced several films for TV.
